E-SYSTEM |
| |
E-Sys are systems that digitize and transport up to 640 channels of uncompressed, 48 kHz, 24-bit audio signals, in real time, over an Ethernet network. Inputs and outputs can be configured as mic, line or AES/EBU digital. Digital transport is carried out over a single CAT5 Ethernet cable, fiber-optic, or wire/fiber-less infrared laser beam. Standard Ethernet switches can be configured to provide for a fully redundant network. |

Digital channels can be reconverted in an analog format, such as to provide for a transparent analog link (snake), with the advantage of using a single cable connection, instead of hundred of Kg of multi-cable for a typical live-concert setting. Furthermore, the large improvement in S/N ratio and frequency transparency over an analog snake takes every sound engineer by surprise!
Alternatively, the Ethernet cable can directly interface to any mixing console or other audio gear compatible with the CobraNet™ or EtherSound protocols. Preamp gain and phantom power may also be controlled directly from Yamaha digital control surfaces, such as the PM5D. Digital channels can also be converted to individual AES/EBU digital signals.
Last, the Ethernet signal can seamlessly be distributed over a large network with analog drop-outs or drop-ins (see E-Mod), to simplify audio distribution in conference centers, hotels, arenas, etc.
CAT5 cables can be 100 m long (or 200 m with the use of an Ethernet switch). Fiber-optic cables can extend to 2 Km, while laser beam provides for a 270 m cable-less connection path.
Mic input cards are designed with high-end preamps and ADCs that provide transparent response and are equipped with full featured remote control of all operating parameters. |

| Clouseau finds a wireless solution! |
 |
Belgium: Every year, for the past six years, the famous Belgian band Clouseau has surprised its fans with a combination of stunning stage layout, visual wizardry and guest artists to boot.
After their concert featuring a huge sound system flying over the circular stage in the middle of the 15,000-seater Sportpaleis venue, and the use of the Rolling Stones’ ‘Babylon Bridge’, this year, for their 13 sold-out concerts, the band opted for a ‘long version’, using the full 70m length of the arena’s stage. |
